ANTON CHARLES PRUDEN
1959 Born Pontypool, Wales Anton Pruden is a third generation silversmith. His grandfather, Dunstan Pruden, was the silversmith in the Eric Gill founded Guild of St.Joseph and St.Dominic on Ditchling Common, where Anton had his first experience of working in silver at a very early age. Dunstan taught some of the most famous modern silversmiths, such as Gerald Benney, at Brighton College of Art.
1977-1980 University of Surrey - BSc Hons in Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology.
1982-1984 Studied silversmithing with P&A Lowery, Gloucestershire.
1984-1985 Workshop in Farnham, Surrey.
1985-1987 Teacher of Life & Social skills for Youth Training Scheme, Aldershot, Hampshire. City & Guilds in Youth Training.
1987-1989 Travelled in Asia and taught English as a foreign language in Tokyo.
1988 Opened workshop in Ditchling, East Sussex.
1993 Attended "Sparkling Party" Workshop in Antwerp
1994 Membership of the Society of Designer Craftsmen
1996 Membership of the Association of British Designer Silversmiths
1996 Set up Pruden and Smith with Rebecca Smith
1997 Became Freeman of the Goldsmiths Company
2003-2005 Introduction Leader for Landmark Education
